The subject of Gangs and treaty according to a process which goes from the representational artist to the documentary. That is why the macrostructure of this series is reminiscent at the same time of the polyptiques of sacred subject of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance and the comic strips: a continuous story settles down around the phenomenon of gangs, without proposing for all that a demonstration or a moralizing reading. The subject of Gangs and treaty according to a process which goes from the representational artist to the documentary. That is why the macrostructure of this series is reminiscent at the same time of the polyptyches of sacred subject of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance and the comic strips: a continuous story settles down around the phenomenon of gangs, without proposing for all that a demonstration or a moralizing reading. The representational scenes(stages) consist on a bottom where, in the violent dominating tones yellow or red, offers itself in the eyes of the spectator a landscape of poverty, the representative, South American poverty of the favelas of the poverty of all the suburbs, including those of the cities rich in the western world, this world which is Westerner, this world which is present by fragments, in detail of an ageing urban civilization (advertising hoardings, graffiti, street art). It is doubtless the series which has most massively appeal(recourse) to the process of quotation and the recycling, materials (stuck papers pulled(fired) by advertising posters) and of details pulled(fired) by bands(strips) drawn and of movies, even documentaries on Gangs

(Dix huiles sur toile et techniques mixtes ; chaque toile : 100cm x 100cm) Le sujet des Gangs et traité selon un procédé qui va du figuratif au documentaire. C'est pourquoi la macrostructure de cette série n'est sans rappeler à la fois les polyptyques de sujet sacré du Moyen Age et de la Renaissance et les bandes dessinées : une narration continue s'installe autour du phénomène des gangs, sans proposer pour autant une démonstration ou une lecture moralisante. Les scènes figuratives se composent sur un fond où, dans les tons violents dominant des jaune ou des rouge, s'offre aux yeux du spectateur un paysage de misère, la misère des favelas sud-américaines, représentative de la misère de toutes les banlieues, y compris celles des villes riches du monde occidental, ce monde qui est présent par bribes, dans les détails d'une civilisation urbaine vieillissante (panneaux publicitaires, graffiti, street art). C'est sans doute la série qui a le plus massivement recours au procédé de citation et du recyclage, de matériaux (papiers collés tirés d'affiches publicitaires) et de détails tirés de bandes dessinés et de films, voire même de documentaires sur les Gangs.
